In this article we will explain everything you need to know about the requirements to study in Ecuador as a foreigner.

Student visa:

The first requirement you must meet to study in Ecuador is to obtain a student visa. To do this, you must present a series of documents at the Ecuadorian embassy or consulate in your country of origin. Some of the documents you must present include a letter of acceptance from the university or educational institution in which you will study, a copy of your passport, a criminal record certificate and proof of payment of the visa fee.

Health insurance:

Another important requirement to study in Ecuador as a foreigner is to have a health insurance that covers your health expenses during your stay in the country. This insurance must be valid for at least six months and must be purchased before travelling to Ecuador.

Vaccination certificate:

Ecuador requires that foreign students be vaccinated against yellow fever, so you must present a vaccination certificate when applying for your visa. In addition, it is advisable to get vaccinated against other common diseases in the region, such as hepatitis A and B and typhoid fever.

Language Level Test:

If your native language is not Spanish, you may need to take a language level test before being accepted at the university or educational institution you wish to study at. This may include the presentation of internationally recognized Spanish exam results, such as DELE or CELU.

Certificate of Previous Studies:

If you want to study for a bachelor’s degree in Ecuador, you will probably have to present a certificate of high school. For graduate studies, you must present a certificate of previous university studies.

Financing:

It is important that you can demonstrate that you have the necessary financial resources to pay for your studies and stay in Ecuador. This may include filing bank statements or proof of income.

Motivation letter:

Finally, some study programs may require you to present a motivation letter explaining your reasons for studying in Ecuador and your academic and professional goals. In summary, the requirements to study in Ecuador as a foreigner include several aspects to be covered.
